The Vizzola Test Track is a track owned by Pirelli, and is used solely for testing. As well as a home for Pirelli to trial all of the latest innovations in the tyre industry, it’s also used by car manufacturers to test new cars. Designed and engineered by Pirelli’s own engineers, Vizzola is a centre built up of of straights, twisting and circular tracks, covering about 85,000 square metres. A third of the track can be covered in water to simulate conditions ranging from light drizzle to a monsoonal downpour.
At the heart of the track is a 25M high control tower, where everything is operated. You’ll find a meeting room at the top, where you can see the full facility.
As for the actual layout it varies depending on what needs to be tested. A huge amount of combinations are available, which is why it’s so popular with the car manufacturers. Ferrari spent a lot of time testing the new FF at the facility, one of the reasons it’s so good in all conditions.
