If you haven’t heard about Bedford Autodrome before, it’s a purpose built Motorsport experience centre. You get the chance to try a whole host of awesome cars, and drive on several different tracks. The cars range from 3.0 V6 Single seaters, to Aerial Atoms and across to Land Rovers – you really do get a mix of everything.

Having driven several cars before lunch, Tom Onslow-Cole showed up to show us all how it’s done! Driving cars quickly on a track really puts it into perspective the fantastic job these drivers do – you may sit at home watching it thinking “that looks easy, I drive to the shops like that” but believe us, it isn’t.. Our man on the ground James drove 6 different cars, and had off track excursions in 4 of them! Driving cars quickly on a track is a lot harder than it looks, especially when some of them had a standard gearbox rather than a paddle shift – even Tom’s eBay Motors BMW has a standard manual ‘box.

The eBay motors BMW is a pretty awesome machine, with one of the new spec turbo engines pumping out just over 300 horsepower. Tom gave all of the guests that wanted a go a hot lap around the longest track, the west circuit. Getting the opportunity to get a lap next to one of the best drivers on the grid is pretty epic, so we’ve got a full report on that coming later this week.. For now, we’ll leave it by saying that it’s a lot harder to drive a touring car than you think it is…
