Knockhill is the motorsport hub of Scotland sitting a few miles north of Dumferline. The track opened its gates in 1974 using old service roads from a disused railway. The track went through a lot of different owners in the following 10 years or so, who continually developed the ever popular circuit. Today’s circuit has the 1.3 Mile main circuit (As visited each year by the BTCC) an off road course, as well as a Karting track and a rally stage. the final corner at the circuit is a tight hairpin, where a lot of overtaking takes place. The first corner is also tricky to drive, coming over the brow of the hill it can be difficult to judge the braking point for turn 1.
The track has seen recognition rise in recent years, with the track appearing in Top Gear on BBC 2, as well as several computer games including Colin McRace Dirt.
