Silverstone circuit is the current home of the British Grand Prix, and most will agree the home of British motorsport. The track is based on an old airfield, and held the first GP in 1948. Located just a stones throw from the local village (which the track is named after) the track dominates the local scenery. During the break between the 1990 and 1991 season the track underwent a redevelopment.
The next major update was in 2010, when the circuit was lengthened and changed slightly in preparation for the Moto GP which had moved from Donington park. One of the main problems however is the traffic. The main road to the circuit is good, however you have to turn off and go through Silverstone itself, which on a GP weekend isn’t fun! Facilities at the track are the best In the UK, that is excluding the grass car park when it rains… The new modifications to the track mean that there are even more configurations to the circuit, for club, national and international racing. Looking at the new pit building the Silverstone Wing, it’s one of the leading pit buildings in the world, with huge garages, a large paddock and an iconic design.
